So today is 4th May, the official launch date of Rcom 4G services in the 9 circles which are in the phase 1 of the 4G roll out process. For those who have been living under a rock, a quick summary of the upgrade story so far.. Rcom which is shutting down its CDMA services to free up spectrum in 850MHz band for 4G LTE operations has declared that it will be migrating its 50 lac CDMA subscribers to the 4G network ahead of its full fledged commercial launch.

The initial upgrade process is being carried out in the metro circles of Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata along with ‘A’ category circles of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh and ‘B’ category circles of UP East, UP West and Madhya Pradesh. Rcom has updated on its website the detailed process for going about with the upgrade.

For CDMA mobile subscribers:

Prepaid mobile subscribers in the 9 circles need to recharge with the 4G upgrade voucher of denomination mentioned in the chart above, the value varies from Rs.75 to Rs.97 as per the circle. subscribers need to get a blank 4G sim from their nearest reliance store. Prepaid subscribers after this recharge and postpaid subscribers need to send an SMS with the text 4G ‘space’ 19 digit sim card number and send it to 1299. Subscribers would enjoy 1 GB EvDO data pre upgrade and 1 GB 3G data (also usable on 2G data in areas without 3G coverage) and 10 GB LTE data post upgrade. subscribers would also get 1 month of free reliance to reliance local and STD calls.

For EvDO data card subscribers:

Prepaid data card subscribers in the 9 circles need to recharge with the 4G upgrade voucher of denomination mentioned in the chart above, the value varies from Rs.75 to Rs.97 as per the circle. subscribers need to get a blank 4G sim from their nearest reliance store. Prepaid subscribers after this recharge and postpaid subscribers need to head over to the reliance netconnect website and click on the upgrade to 4G option and enter the MDN of the data card along with the 19 digit sim number and email id along with the alternate mobile number to receive the OTP. Upon successful submission of the details the upgrade request is accepted and the subscriber can now place an order for the new wi-pod on the reliance shop website and have it home delivered. Subscribers would enjoy 5 GB of EvDO data pre upgrade (also usable as 1x in areas with no EvDO coverage) and also get an additional 10 GB of LTE data post upgrade with a 30 days validity.

Note:
Rcom will notify the subscribers through SMS about the upgrade of the sim approximately 48 hours before the upgrade process. Sources: Codertrick

Remeber my words, one day every rcom users will be upgarded free of cost. Those who upgraded by paying and those not.

My experience, around rs 30000 was my bill on rcom on 501 plan, they told me to pay in installment but i refused to pay. They bLocked my connection after 3 months my number became prepaid by itself and with unlimited internet and sms...

If u have reliance cdma active number or (reliance netconnect) then go to reliance store and ask them to upgrade your cdma sim to 4g sim, they will provide u all details. It will cost u around 100/-

In Gujarat the recharge value is 75/- + 25/-(sim charge)= u will get 10gb 4g data for 30days and 100 local+std minutes + unlimited Reliance to Reliance minutes for 30 days, for postpaid it will cost only Rs 50/- . At start they will verify your sim documents by asking u to provide original documents of u r id and price will be vary in different states but nearly 100/- thats it they will give u 4g gsm sim and once 4g sim activated u will get msg in u r given alternate number, now enjoy 10gb 4g... :-)
