Here comes the HEVC - High Efficiency Video Codec; offering Great Picture Quality and Low File Size.
x265 and VP9 are currently most popular HEVC codec.
You can convert your videos to HEVC with same picture quality but significantly low file size. I have converted 6.5 GB 720p BrRip file to just 421MB with almost same picture quality.
How to do that -
Use Free tool - Handbrake - https://handbrake.fr/downloads.php
(Though there are many paid shitware exits but hand brake is free, cross platform and very easy to use)
Or,
you can even convert online and then download (which I prefer, because it will not eat up the entire RAM + Processor).
http://convert-video-online.com/ and https://cloudconvert.com/ are good example of that.
Paste the Video URL and choose mp4 -> x265
Chose quality ~26 (lesser the value will produce greater file size but bigger quality index will distort the video)
x265 profile -> Main10
You can save the file directly to google drive or Dropbox for future use.
HEVC conversion will take a lot of time, and system resource, if you don't have Fast and Furious machine go for online conversion. So be patience, but once it is done you will understand -
