1. Start > Run -> type “CMD” and press enter
2. type< diskpart
3. type< list volume
4. type< select volume # (# is the number of the USB HDD you’ve pluged in)
5. type< attributes disk clear readonly

Is this method is only for pen drives? This will work on CD?

write protection cant be removed. just try using your pen drive in android phones with otg. that may format it and can only work on android. else there is no way till date to remove write protection manually. only companies having legal licence and software can do that
