The government subsidises it by 50 per cent and it will be distributed to students at Rs 1,130”. Datawind commits to supply 100,000 units to the Institute of Information and Technology - Bombay which will further distribute those tablets to Engineer Universities. The teaching faculties of the IIT Bombay have also claimed to build some applications for the Engineering Students on the Aakash 2 tablet.
The first version of the tablet, Aakash was the dream of many and finally turned into a nightmare. The first generation Aakash Tablet created disappointment among the users because of the delays in the availability and several other issues. Many who have already ordered the tablet are yet to hear from the company. Although the subsidized Aakash 2 tablet's availability is not known yet, users can pre-book the UbiSlate 7Ci tablet from DataWind.
